Public vigils are held to protest each execution. The vigils are held at 5:30 p.m. at the small Public Park at "Protest Park" at the corner of Texas Avenue and Walton Drive (across from entrance to TAMU). Contact us for more information. In addition, a number of student organizations on the Texas A & M campus signed moratorium resolutions during the Spring. And several other faith communities and organizations locally are in the process of studying and discussing the issue with plans to vote on resolution adoption in the near future.
To publicize the success of the moratorium resolution campaign, JPI held a press conference on May 17, 2000. Randall Dale Adams, released from death row after he was found to be innocent, was the special guest.
